Eat Retreat launched in 2011, bringing together 30+ people working in food—chefs, brewers, makers, bakers, writers, photographers, etc. The annual gathering has created a space for hands-on education and sharing of food histories, for collaboration, and for attendees to play with food. It’s been held three times in California, once in the Finger Lakes of NY, in southeast Pennsylvania, and in rural Wisconsin. This year’s retreat was the first in the Pacific Northwest, on the banks of the Sandy River, just east of Portland.
