A research outing at Cubit’s Gap with Water Institute of the Gulf. The institute is studying vegetation density and its impact on water flow at a small plot that’s naturally growing a couple miles east of the Mississippi River, inside the Delta National Wildlife Refuge. The team is injecting a tracer dye at various points inside the marsh, which I’m helping to capture overhead using a drone—the timestamps from these images, paired with software that’s calibrated to GPS markers placed around the target area, help to calculate the speed of the water flow.
