In 2004, a stretch of California’s Highway 33 that passes through Kern County was given the name “Petroleum Highway.” Kern is one of the highest oil producing counties in the country, but is also the base of the agriculturally rich San Joaquin Valley. Pictured here are two sides of the highway.
